Variety the Children’s Charity of Canada is the association of Variety Tents that make up the Canadian contingent of Variety International, the world’s greatest children’s charity. The association includes offices in the provinces of Alberta (Calgary/Edmonton), British Columbia (Vancouver), Manitoba (Winnipeg), and Ontario (Ottawa and Toronto). The five Canadian Variety Tents meet several times a year face-to-face and through teleconferencing to share expertise and success stories and to address issues of concern to Canadian families.
Tent 28 Ontario
Variety Toronto was established in 1945 and has focused its efforts on integration and ability by providing facilities, programs, and services to give children who have special needs the opportunity to hope, dream, learn, and grow. Key to fulfilling this mandate is Variety Village, a leading authority on integrative active living opportunities for children of varied abilities, and Variety Ability Systems Inc., a production facility that develops children’s prosthetics.

Tent 47 British Columbia
Variety BC is one of the most successful offices in Variety’s world. Since its inception in 1965, Variety BC has raised and disbursed over $130 million to children’s organizations and programs, and to British Columbia families in need. Our 41 year partnership with Global Television and our annual Show of Hearts telethon showed a record $7.5 million in 2007.

Tent 58 Manitoba
Established in 1978, Variety of Manitoba has raised more than $18 million to meet the special needs of the children of Manitoba. Variety Manitoba’s 25th anniversary “Show of Hearts” Telethon is broadcast province-wide on Global TV.

Tent 61 Southern Alberta
Recently, the offices of Tent 61 Southern Alberta and Tent 63 Northern Alberta amalgamated to coordinate and streamline all fundraising and administration for more effective and efficient disbursement of funds to children and their families throughout the province of Alberta.

Tent 71 Ottawa
Variety Ottawa (Tent 71) was established in the mid 1990s and received Provincial Incorporation as a charity in 1999. Major fundraisers include the Gold Heart Campaign, the annual International Ball and the David Courtin Memorial Golf Tournament.
